Nowadays, staying safe online has become a never-ending battle – for children as well as adults. Because cybercriminals are becoming smarter and more sophisticated in their operations, they are real threats to your personal security and privacy. Your money, your computer, your family, and your business are all at risk.

However, with a little common sense and some knowledge about what to do and not do, one can surf the ‘net unscathed. Here is a great set of rules for kids while they are online. I found these rules at safekids.com. Parents, Employers, and Managers, you can take some notes from these rules, too:

1. I will not give out personal information such as my address, telephone number, parents’ work address/telephone number, or the name and location of my school without my parents’ permission.

2. I will tell my parents right away if I come across any information that makes me feel uncomfortable.

3. I will never agree to get together with someone I “meet” online without first checking with my parents. If my parents agree to the meeting, I will be sure that it is in a public place and bring my mother or father along.

4. I will never send a person my picture or anything else without first checking with my parents.

5. I will not respond to any messages that are mean or in any way make me feel uncomfortable. It is not my fault if I get a message like that. If I do I will tell my parents right away so that they can contact the service provider.

6. I will talk with my parents so that we can set up rules for going online. We will decide upon the time of day that I can be online, the length of time I can be online and appropriate areas for me to visit. I will not access other areas or break these rules without their permission.

7. I will not give out my Internet password to anyone (even my best friends) other than my parents.

8. I will check with my parents before downloading or installing software or doing anything that could possibly hurt our computer or jeopardize my family’s privacy

9. I will be a good online citizen and not do anything that hurts other people or is against the law.

10. I will help my parents understand how to have fun and learn things online and teach them things about the Internet, computers and other technology.

Although you may follow the rules religiously, you, your computer, and your family might still be at risk because cybercriminals leave you with three choices:

1. Do nothing and hope their attacks, risks, and threats don’t occur on your computer.

2. Do research and get training to protect yourself, your family, and your business.

3. Get professional help to lockdown your system from all their attacks, risks, and threats. Remember: When you say “No!” to hackers and spyware, everyone wins! When you don’t, we all lose!

Every business, large or small, is looking for success, no matter how they define it. For most, this is looking for a way to satisfy their customers, outdo their competition, and make enough money to survive – all at the same time. To start you on your way, here are three simple things that every business needs to do if they want to be successful.

One of the simplest things you can do to guarantee success is also one of the most important; you absolutely must find a way to give your customers what they want. If you are not giving your customers what they want and need, they will not be your customers for long, no matter how low your prices are or how great your service is.

The second of these simple things you must do is to always give your customers more than what they expect. This is one of the easiest ways to keep your customers happy and loyal to you. The best part is it does not need to cost you anything to offer more. You can set yourself apart by offering outstanding service or maybe by offering instruction on how to get the most out of whatever you are selling. If you sell products your customers have to set up or put together, why not try offering free assembly to set your business apart?

The third simple way to assure success in your business is something many owners do not give much thought to. You need to make it easy for a customer to buy from you. Do your customers know where to find you? Can your customers find your address, phone number, and what you offer easily? Do you have a well planned website that is secure and easy to make a purchase from? Is there a way for your customers to talk to a real live person if they have a problem or a question? In the world of business, just like in the rest of life, there is no guarantee of success, so you must do everything you can to guarantee that success on your own. And, three of the easiest ways to do so is by giving your customers what they want, giving more than what they expect, and making it easy for them to buy from you in the first place.
